Safe and Supportive Schools ConferenceApril 28-29, 2020 in Charlottesville, Virginia The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), in partnership with the Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety (VCSCS) at the Department of Criminal Justice Services, is pleased to invite you to the 2020 Safe and Supportive Schools Conference to be held April 28-29, 2020 at the DoubleTree by Hilton (990 Hilton Heights Road, Charlottesville). The theme for the conference is “Navigating the Landscape of School Safety.” Attendees will learn about data-informed and impactful practices that advance school safety through supportive, comprehensive, and preventative approaches. The intended audience for this conference is specialized instructional support personnel that provide mental health, social, and emotional support to Virginia students in K-12, including school counselors, school nurses, school psychologists, school social workers, and other student support professionals and administrators. This free professional development opportunity is open to all Virginia school divisions. Participants are encouraged to register in divisions teams. Pre-registration is required. Attendance is capped at 300 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration LinkLODGINGAll attendees are responsible for all travel expenses, including lodging and mileage. VDOE blocked rooms for the nights of April 27 and April 28 are available on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity has been reached. Once the block is full, additional rooms may not be available. The applicable state rate is $129/night plus taxes and fees.
