By becoming a member of Virginia Association of School Social Workers, your region chair will be notified and you will be added to their regional contact list. This will allow you to connect with professionals where you live and work. Regions meet multiple times throughout the year.

Professional Networking and Development

Every other fall, VA SSW hosts the bi-annual School Social Work State Conference. A Fall Institute is offered during the opposite year to provide a professional development opportunity to school social workers in Virginia. As a member of VASSW, you can attend the Fall Institute for free and also receive a discounted registration rate at our bi-annual VASSW State Conference.

Additionally, most of the six regions hold smaller professional development meetings every fall and spring. Each year there are relevant and practical topics to enhance your practice.

Resources Through Our Newsletter

As a member, you will receive via email our VASSW Newsletter “The Liaison.” This newsletter contains state and regional association updates, job openings and information pertaining to our field of school social work.
